The Bermuda Taxi Owners and Operators Association has launched the BTOA Connect customer app, which is available for download on IOS and Android.

The new platform provides residents and visitors with a fast, convenient and secure way to book taxis across Bermuda, the association said.

Randy Broadbelt, BTOA spokesman, told The Royal Gazette in June: “BTOA Connect allows direct access to professional taxi operators via mobile and web platforms, eliminating the need for traditional dispatch systems and ensuring a more efficient, reliable customer experience.

“We believe this development marks a significant shift in how transport services are delivered in Bermuda.”

The association said that the app was developed in collaboration with local taxi drivers, and is designed to enhance customer experience while ensuring rides are safe, reliable and fully managed by Bermudian operators.

Restaurants and hotels have signed up to the service to make bookings for their guests. Pre-bookings are also available.

The association statement said: “Unlike other dispatch systems, which rely on external providers, BTOA Connect keeps all operations local and data within a secure environment managed by Bermudians, supporting local drivers and protecting user privacy.”

BTOA said key features include instant bookings, allowing for requests for a taxi immediately, with customers able to see available drivers nearby.

There are scheduled and pre-arranged rides, with clients able to plan airport transfers, island tours or private hires in advance.

The statement said: “There are live trackings and notifications. Monitor your ride in real-time and receive alerts when your driver is approaching.”

There is also some payment flexibility, with fares paid securely through the app or in cash. Riders can also learn about driver profiles and ratings, and provide feedback to maintain service standards.

“This app brings modern, convenient and secure taxi services to Bermuda,” said Ricky Tucker, president of BTOA. “It’s designed to provide customers with choice and reliability while empowering local taxi drivers. BTOA Connect is a solution built for the island, by the island, improving accessibility and service standards for everyone.”
