Doctor joins Family Practice Group
Accomplished internal medicine physician Cassandra Pitcher has joined the Family Practice Group team on Victoria Street after returning home with her clinical expertise, leadership experience and compassionate approach, according to a statement from Island Health Services.
Dr Pitcher is their second internal medicine specialist, along with Jasmin Caines.
Dr Caines and Dr Pitcher are trained to care for adults with complex medical needs. They provide preventive care, annual exams and continuing wellness support for patients with issues such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, asthma and lung conditions.
Dr Pitcher commented: “Many people don’t realise that an internal medicine specialist can act as their main doctor, someone who really knows their health history, co-ordinates care with other specialists and helps them stay healthy in the long term.”
She earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica in 2018, before completing her Internal Medicine residency at the Connecticut Institute for Communities.
She went on to serve as a primary care physician and faculty member at CIFC before advancing to associate programme director of the Internal Medicine Residency Programme. In 2024, she became a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
