Sixteen years after its inception, the RG Top 10 Employers Awards has evolved beyond job perks or paycheques. It is about the deeper values shaping Bermuda’s workplace culture.

The awards, presented by PwC Bermuda and held this morning at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club, will celebrate organisations recognised by their own employees as the island’s best places to work.

Michael Grier, commercial director at BP Media, said this year the focus is shifting to the principles of “empower, value, respect and trust”.

“I think this year we’re just a little bit more excited about some of the more deeper principles around respect and empowerment,” Mr Grier said. “Those, to me, are almost more important than some of these other sort of business and corporate objectives that we tend to have.”

He added that the awards have changed workplace culture over time. “There’s a lot more respect, I think, between the employer and employee since we’ve been doing these awards, because it highlights what’s important to both sides.”

The Diversity Award, now in its sixth year, has also become a key part of the programme. “The harder that companies have been working at it, they’re starting to actually see where the business value is,” Mr Grier said.

The Top 10 process is an eight-month effort beginning each March, with surveys completed by both employers and their staff. Finalists are profiled in a special 16-page feature in the The Royal Gazette and honoured at a breakfast ceremony.

Today’s event will reveal the 2025 winners and celebrate the companies that continue to raise the bar for employee engagement on the island.
