Jadyn Virgil interns at Abic
Jadyn Virgil is interning with the Association of Bermuda International Companies through a programme organised by the Department of Workforce Development.
Bridge to Work provides young Bermudian professionals with valuable opportunities to transition into the workforce.
Participants engage in a 10-week attachment designed to provide real-world experience, mentorship and exposure to professional environments within Bermuda. Young adults work in fields such as information technology, skills trades, finance, business development, Bermuda’s blue and green economy and international business.
During his placement at Abic, Mr Virgil is gaining hands-on experience in operations, administration and stakeholder engagement.
Bridge to Work is meant to be a structured, time-bound pathway for 18 to 26-year-olds, blending assessment-driven coaching, work-based learning and wraparound supports to build employability, resilience and career clarity.
The aim of each placement is skill development, professional exposure and progression towards the most suitable next step.
Mr Virgil was honoured to be selected.
“It has given me invaluable hands-on experience to advance my career,” he said. “With their support, I’m sharpening my skills and strengths—striving not just to become a capable employee, but a true asset to any company’s growth and mission.”
Abic chair Christian Dunleavy said his organisation was committed to developing the pipeline of Bermudian talent for international companies.
“As part of our mission we value our partnership with the Government, and in this instance we are pleased to collaborate with the Department of Workforce Development,” he said. “Our member companies look forward to taking advantage of opportunities to develop Bermudians for the future opportunities in the international businesses sector.”
Jason Hayward, Minister of Economy and Labour, thanked Abic for leading by example.
“This Government remains committed to identifying, training, and developing Bermudians so that they can fully participate in Bermuda’s vibrant and growing economy,” he said.
