Bermuda College to launch new ACCA pathway
Bermuda College will launch a new Association of Chartered Certified Accountants programme early next year, aiming to steer more Bermudians into accounting and support roles that remain in high demand across the island’s business sector.
Karen Smith, programme co-ordinator, said the course is structured to help adults train or retrain for immediate employment, with options ranging from introductory certificates to advanced qualifications.
“There are hundreds of accounting jobs in Bermuda,” she said. “Just under 100 positions were advertised on the job board this year alone. There’s a real need for local qualified accountants and for people in accounting support roles.”
The ACCA curriculum covers financial reporting, taxation, audit, business law, ethics and management. Students can begin at multiple entry points, earn stackable credentials and attend evening classes, making the programme accessible to working learners. Entry does not require an admissions test, and Ms Smith said students can complete their first certificate within a semester.
Entry-level qualifications prepare learners for bookkeeping and support positions, while continued study leads to the internationally recognised ACCA designation. The programme is delivered in partnership with ACCA Global and supported by ACCA Caribbean.
Funding support is available for eligible students.
Information sessions will be held on January 6 and 13, 2026, at 6pm via Zoom.
