BermudAir refreshing its culinary vision
BermudAir is calling on local culinary professionals to help rebrand its economy class in-flight food offerings.
The island’s only airline is inviting qualified and experienced in-flight catering service providers to submit proposals.
According to an overview from the airline, the chosen vendor will be working closely with BermudAir and the UK-based firm En Route, a specialist in-flight provider of passenger food solutions.
En Route belongs to Dubai National Air Travel Agency known as dnata — the airport services arm of the Emirates Group which owns Emirates airline.
“En Route has proven expertise in culinary development, product innovation, and operational execution, utilising advanced food technologies such as flash freezing to preserve freshness, quality, and consistency,” BermudAir stated.
BermudAir said the partnership will focus on the development of in-flight handheld food options designed specifically for economy class service, ensuring offerings are operationally efficient, scalable, and aligned with their refreshed culinary vision.
The firm added that the selected vendor, or vendors, will play a key role in delivering a refreshed culinary experience that balances creativity, consistency, operational reliability, and cost-effectiveness — while meeting all safety and regulatory requirements.
“This request for proposal is intended to identify a forward- thinking catering partner capable of supporting BermudAir’s current operations and adapting alongside the airline as the brand, service model, and network continue to evolve,” the airline said.
All submitted proposals and culinary concepts will be reviewed by a BermudAir internal evaluation panel.
Submissions will be assessed based on overall concept quality, culinary creativity, brand alignment and operational feasibility.
The selection process will be completed by January 30 with the outcome possibly resulting in the selection of one primary catering partner or a combination of multiple partners.
Chosen vendors will receive exposure on BermudAir’s social media channels, inclusion in in-flight materials such as menus and participation in press releases and public relations initiatives related to the rebrand and in-flight culinary programme.
There will be an information session on Thursday at 10am at Gosling’s head office at 9 Dundonald Street, Hamilton. Attendance is not mandatory. Those who cannot be there can still submit a complete proposal.
