Max Blakeney joins Appleby legal trainee programme
Max Blakeney is a new pupil in Appleby Bermuda’s legal trainee programme, joining a cohort of three other pupils.
The two-year programme provides training across the firm’s corporate, dispute resolution and insurance departments, involving three four-month seats in the first year and one 12-month seat in the second year.
“We are pleased to welcome Max back to Appleby and to our highly successful trainee programme,” said Brad Adderley, Appleby’s managing partner in Bermuda. “With broad practice exposure and hands‑on mentorship at the heart of our programme, we are committed to developing the island’s future legal talent.
“Max’s longstanding internship experience has already provided a strong foundation for learning and we’re delighted to support his continued growth.”
Mr Blakeney received the Appleby Legal Education Scholarship in 2024 and has interned with the firm across five summers.
He holds an LLB and an LLM in International and Commercial Law from the University of Buckingham, and is completing the solicitors’ qualifying examination. Before joining Appleby, Mr Blakeney gained experience as a trainee in the investment management team at an international law firm in Luxembourg.
“I chose Appleby because of its position in the offshore market and the nature of the work that comes with that, as well as the calibre of lawyers the firm develops,” Mr Blakeney said. “Through my time with Appleby, I have seen first-hand how legal, regulatory and commercial risk are managed in practice, and that is the environment I want to continue developing in.”
