For the first time an executive from one of the world’s biggest computer chip makers will be speaking in Bermuda.

The Bermuda Principles Foundation has announced that Chelsea Sumner, Nvidia translational health and AI strategy lead, will participate in the Nvidia Future of AI in Business fireside chat later this month.

Nvidia is the highest-valued company in the world by market capitalisation, driven by immense demand for its artificial intelligence chips, often trading with a valuation exceeding $4 trillion.

All profits from the event will go towards funding a Bioinformatics Centre of Excellence, a permanent technological legacy intended to support on island infrastructure, talent development and research capability at the intersection of genomics, AI and data science.

Other panellists will include moderator Michelle Jackson, Stuart Lacey of Labrynth and Lloyd Holder of SiriusPoint.

“This will be the first time Nvidia is hosted in Bermuda, bringing global technology leadership into direct conversation with Bermuda’s business and regulatory community,” a spokesman for the foundation said.

The discussion will be held during Bermuda Principles 30th Anniversary Conference, organised in partnership with the Wellcome Sanger Institute and CariGenetics.

It will explore topics including national genomics initiatives, benefit sharing and justice.

Carika Weldon, founder of the Bermuda Principles Foundation and chief executive of CariGenetics, said this fireside chat is more than a conversation.

It is a direct contribution to ensuring that AI can help drive innovation, training and opportunity as efficiently as possible.”

The panel discussion is designed as a high-impact discussion for Bermuda’s leaders across reinsurance, finance, health and regulation, focused on how artificial intelligence will reshape competitiveness, governance, workforce readiness and economic resilience.

Tickets are available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis and space is limited.

Tickets are $150, with the first 30 tickets available at the early rate of $100 when using the discount code “BP30AI”, in celebration of the 30th Anniversary Conference.

The BP30 conference runs from February 25 to 28, convening 100 global leaders and experts under the theme “Future-proofing global collaboration in genomics”.

The fireside chat will be held at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club on February 27 from 12.30 to 1.30pm.
