St Regis seeks head butler
The St Regis Bermuda Resort is looking within the Marriott family for a head butler.
An advertisement on the Marriott Careers webpage says the butler programme is at the core of modern luxury through service, as redefined by St Regis, the “original house of luxury”.
The ad said the butler programme is “an icon to our heritage and the heart and soul of new luxury”.
“It is high-touch, personalised, creative and original. It is brought to life by all talent but serving as the primary face to the programme is our butler team, who are the ultimate luxury ambassadors.”
The head butler oversees the functioning and delivery of all butler services ensuring a maintenance of the required standard of service for hotel guests spanning the period prior to arrival, to departure.
No certification or supervisory experience is required apart from a high school diploma or equivalent and a year’s related work experience.
Certain soft skills are expected as the successful applicant will supervise the work of the butler team, which includes butlers and butler valets, and “drive strong coordination with other departments”.
The ad states: “Responsibilities also include people management tasks including interviewing and hiring butler team members and creating schedules to ensure optimal staffing levels.”
The full-time position in the rooms and guest services operations department will require team members be on their feet and moving around (stand, sit, or walk for an extended time) and taking a hands-on approach to work (move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance).
The ad said: “Doing all these things well (and other reasonable job duties as requested) is critical for butler team members — to get it right for our guests and our business each and every time.”
