Yellowfin Group Ltd, the Hamilton restaurant group, expects to soon reopen businesses in Chancery Lane and get restaurant and bar operations back to normal, with the impending completion of Brookfield House, the development that is being constructed adjacent to the shared lane.

It will be the new global headquarters for Brookfield Reinsurance and its affiliates. The project includes 55,000 sq ft of office space and 3,000 sq ft of retail.

Brookfield’s early discussions with several potential tenants included plans for a mix of local and international businesses, including food and beverage retailers on the ground floor. One plan included the company occupying three lower floors, but leasing out the remainder to just five tenants.

Karl Massam, general manager of Yellowfin, said with the expected yearlong construction coming to an end for the nine-storey block, he is prepared to welcome upscale tenants from the new offices.

His company is busy trying to get staff, including some new hires, organised for an anticipated upswing in business.

The company expects to add 15 to 20 new employees to the existing 74 staff at Port O Call, Pearl, Bistro J, The Astwood Arms, Yours Truly and Ruby Murry’s.

Operations manager, Pravin Bagde, said: “That should at least advance us to the point of opening a couple of our outlets that are closed at the moment, and also enhance our existing team.”

Mr Bagde and Mr Massam were speaking to The Royal Gazette, during the recent tourism and hospitality careers fair, competing with hotels and other restaurants for the attention of interested attendees.

Mr Massam said: “Hopefully, there’ll be an added flow of business coming to our businesses once the building next door is completed.”

The ground floor of the new building will feature retail space and the main lobby. The upper floors are designed for office tenants, each with spacious outdoor terraces overlooking the waterfront.
