A Bermudian-based pet technology start-up has taken part in one of the industry’s largest international events, highlighting the challenges of pet travel compliance.

PadsPass, the company behind a digital platform that provides digital “pet passports” for travel, said its founder, Lauren Anders Brown, delivered a keynote address at Global Pet Expo in Orlando, Florida, a trade show that showcases new products and trends for pets.

The company said Ms Brown used her speech to discuss the complexities of travelling with pets. Requirements can vary depending on destination, airline, timing and vaccination schedules, leaving many pet owners to navigate the process without the information they need.

Ms Brown said the idea for PadsPass stemmed from a personal experience where her dog was taken from her at an airport because of a compliance issue she had not been aware of.

“The hardest part of pet travel should not be paperwork,” she said. “No pet parent should experience that kind of fear because a system is difficult to understand.”

PadsPass said its platform is designed to help users organise their pet’s health records, understand trip-specific requirements and follow step-by-step guidance before they leave.

The company said the invitation to speak at the expo was a milestone that pointed to a growing recognition of pet travel compliance as an emerging area within the wider market.
