Elizabeth Watson returns home to join MDM
Bermudian lawyer Elizabeth Watson has returned home to join Marshall Diel & Myers Ltd’s family team.
For the past decade, Ms Watson has been practising matrimonial law in London, the firm said in a hiring announcement.
Since her return to Bermuda this year, Ms Watson has been called to the Bermuda bar, appointed as a Commissioner for Oaths and a Notary Public, and joined the newly established Supreme Court Family Division Users Committee.
Ms Watson joins MDM as a senior associate in the family and matrimonial department. She has particular expertise in financial matters arising from separation and divorce, guiding clients through the divorce process and advising on nuptial agreements, domestic abuse, child abduction and disputes regarding child arrangements.
MDM has 19 lawyers and a team that is more than 80 per cent Bermudian.
The firm said “clients praise Ms Watson’s patience, professionalism, and diligence for achieving the best possible outcome for them”. She is committed to guiding clients through what are often highly personal and challenging circumstances with sensitivity, clarity and practical advice.
MDM’s family and matrimonial team is headed up by leading family lawyer, Georgia Marshall.
Ms Marshall said: “We are so pleased to welcome Elizabeth back home to Bermuda and to the MDM team.
“She brings with her a wealth of experience in matrimonial law, honed over ten years, together with a thoughtful and client-focused approach and attention to detail which will serve our clients well.
“We are confident that she will be a tremendous asset to our matrimonial team”.
Ms Watson’s appointment takes the team up to four lawyers — making it one of the largest dedicated family teams on the island, according to MDM.
Having moved back to Bermuda with her husband and dog, Ms Watson said: “I am incredibly excited to be starting this new chapter of my career with MDM.
“I am truly thankful for the opportunity to work with such a talented and supportive team, and I look forward to playing a part in the continued success and development of the firm’s family and matrimonial practice.”
