Works under way at the Washington Mall include window replacement and refurbishment of office accommodation above the mall.

Washington Properties said they are continuing a major programme of improvements at the mall and the office accommodations above it to modernise the property, improve sustainability and enhance the experience for tenants, shoppers and visitors.

The company said the new changes follow façade repairs and waterproofing completed earlier this year.

A statement said: “Together, these improvements aim to strengthen the property’s long-term performance and resilience, enhance its appearance and help attract businesses and increase occupancy.

“Beyond the current improvements, Washington Properties is also progressing plans for an exciting new addition to Washington Mall.

“While details remain under wraps for now, the development represents another step in the property’s ongoing transformation. Further announcements will be made in due course.”

A spokesperson continued: “The scaffolding on Reid Street is the most visible sign of a much broader investment programme across Washington Mall and the office floors above it.

“We are focused on creating modern, attractive and energy-efficient spaces while improving the experience for everyone who uses the property. We appreciate the public’s patience during the works and look forward to sharing more about what is ahead.”

The statement said the programme spans the complex across Reid Street, Church Street and Washington Lane and reflects Washington Properties’ long-term commitment to commercial space in Bermuda’s capital.

Investment in both the retail mall and its office accommodation is intended to support the continued vitality of Hamilton’s commercial centre.
