The Mid Ocean Club has promoted longstanding employee Dimitri Frias to clubhouse manager.

Mr Frias’s career with the Mid Ocean Club began in May 2014 as a pool and beach attendant. Since then, he has worked in a variety of roles including pool and beach supervisor, short order cook at the Halfway House, houseman, waiter, and dishwasher.

In October 2021, Mr Frias became the club’s assistant general manager-in-training, taking on broader operational responsibilities, and helping lead Mid Ocean Club through the accreditation process to achieve Investors in People platinum status.

“Mid Ocean Club has been a defining part of my life for more than 12 years, and I am honoured to take this next step in my career,” Mr Frias said. “My leadership philosophy is built on hard work, fostering a supportive and enjoyable workplace, and making a positive impact on the lives of our team and members every day.”

Mid Ocean Club said the appointment reflects its commitment to investing in Bermudian talent.

The venue is embarking on a major overhaul, featuring a clubhouse modernisation alongside the Gil Hanse-led restoration of its golf course.

Austen Gravestock, the club’s general manager and chief executive, said: “Mid Ocean Club is recognised among the finest private golf clubs in the world, and our strength comes from the dedication and passion of our people. Dimitri’s 12-year journey is a prime example of internal progression and local talent thriving within our organisation.

“As we undertake the rehabilitation of our clubhouse facilities, Dimitri’s operational expertise, passion for staff development, and deep connection to our membership make him the ideal leader to drive our service standards forward.”
