Interns complete summer programme at Allied World
Allied World Bermuda has wrapped up its 2025 summer internship programme, providing three Bermudian university students with hands-on experience in the island’s insurance and reinsurance industry.
The eight-week programme, held in June and July, welcomed Jae Gibbons of Bournemouth University, Cody Rans of the University of Exeter and Ben Osset of McGill University.
The interns rotated through departments including property, general casualty, professional lines, operations, actuarial, claims and reinsurance. The scheme also featured mentoring, project work and training sessions, along with broker interaction through a “broker swap out” initiative.
Allied World has offered global insurance and reinsurance solutions since 2001 and has operated in Bermuda for more than two decades. It is a subsidiary of Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd.
Colm Singleton, head of Allied World’s Bermuda office, said the company was proud to play a role in developing future industry leaders.
“Allied World is supportive of mentoring and providing career opportunities for the next generation of Bermudians entering the (re) insurance industry,” he said. “Bermuda has very talented university students interested in our industry and our internship programme is an opportunity for them to get exposure to a variety of potential career paths. We have recently hired two of our former interns, which demonstrates the great opportunities this programme provides.”
Rhiannon Simons, of Allied World’s human resources team, added: “We enjoyed hosting our students this summer and wish them all the best in their upcoming school year as well as their future endeavours.”
