Superb Simons in trio of wins
Kai-Jun Simons blew away the competition in the 65cc Class during last weekend’s motocross racing at Bermuda Motorsports Park.Simons took the chequered flag in all three heats contested to underline his dominance in his respective class that he currently leads over nearest rival Michael Burrows Jr.Others managing three wins on the day included Jayden Simmons, Jonah Smith, Jayden Ming, Moses Johnson and Zamair Darrell.Simmons won all of the heats contested in the Pee Wee Class, Smith had a hat trick of wins in the B Class, Ming swept top honours in the 85cc Class while Johnson and Darrell did likewise in the 50cc and Junior Super Mini Classes respectively.Among those managing two wins were Wentworth Tucker and Otis Ingham. Tucker won two heats in the 450cc Class while the evergreen Ingham had two wins in the Over 30s Class.Jyrie Mitchell competed alone in the Super Mini Class.Claiming a win each in the C Class were Kenneth Mathie, Tariq Bell and Chekari Gibbons.Other single heat winners included Lorenzo Burch (450cc) and current Bermuda Motocross Club president Jonathan Trott (Over 30s).Zano Tucker (50cc), Keegan Jones (Pee Wee) and Michael Burrows Jr (65cc) managed three seconds on the day while 450cc rider Burch had two seconds.Simmons currently leads the Pee Wee Class, Johnson tops the 50cc Class, Ming leads the 85 Class while Darrell is currently setting the pace in the Junior Super Mini Class.Mathie leads the C Class, Tucker currently tops the 450cc Class while Smith and Ingham lead the B Class and Over 30s season championship points standings respectively.Last weekend’s racing was a continuation of the 2011-12 season that was suspended last August to avoid conflicting with other sporting events.The current campaign got off to a late start due to upgrading of the motocross racetrack at Bermuda Motorsports Park.Motocross racing resumes October 28.
