Blake Horseman halts Ryan Rebello’s supremacy in Shifter class

Dominant display: Blake Horseman clinched a clean sweep of the Shifter class in the seventh round of the Bermuda Karting Club National Championships

Blake Horseman enjoyed a perfect outing at the Southside Raceway in the seventh round of the Bermuda Karting Club National Championships on Sunday.

Having had to settle for second-best behind the dominant Ryan Rebello for much of the season, Horseman put down a marker with a sweep of races in the Shifter class at the weekend.

In each of the three heats, Horseman took the chequered flag ahead of Rebello with Jorja Thomas completing the podium places in each.

Scott Barnes was also at his dominant best once again, further cementing his supremacy with victories in all but one race across two different classes.

In the Tag Senior class, Barnes had to settle for second place behind Brian Bulhoes in the opening heat before responding in the perfect fashion with back-to-back wins in the remaining two heats, edging Bulhoes in both. Bilal Binns sealed third place in each of the heats.

Club president Barnes built on that momentum with a sweep of the L206 Seniors class. In the first, he beat David Barbosa to the line, with Justin Lindo in third.

Justin Lindo claimed second place in heat two ahead of Rian Lindo, with the latter finishing behind Barnes and ahead of Barbosa in the final heat.

As it has proved for much of the season, the Tag Junior class provided some closely fought racing on track. Nile Bean prevailed in the opening heat ahead of J’auza James and Jayden Brimmer before the form guide was flipped in the next heat.

The second race finished with Brimmer taking victory ahead of James, with Bean having to settle for third place. However, the latter responded in the perfect fashion in the final race, clinching his second success ahead of Brimmer, with James this time completing the top three.

Of the two drivers to compete in the Modified Shifter class, Shannon Caisey took victory over Devon Durrant in the opening two heats, before Durrant finished on a high by overcoming his rival in the final race. Meanwhile, Robert Wheatley was the sole competitor in the L205 Masters class.
