Day of domination as trio rule waves at Ferry Reach
Clean sweeps were the order of the day during an exciting afternoon of powerboat racing at Ferry Reach on Sunday.
Chris Marshall, David Willoughby and Andrew Cottingham swept both heats in their respective divisions to secure bragging rights in the team pits.
Boat owner and throttle man Cottingham was happy to achieve the feat in D class alongside driver Henry Talbot.
“It was another good day of racing. Weather conditions were in our favour, the boat ran excellent and we came away with a first in both races,” he told The Royal Gazette.
Driver Willoughby and co-pilot Kelsey Durham produced their best showing of the year with a dominant display in B class
“This was by far our best showing this year. We’ve had a lot of problems in the first few races but all the hard work paid off,” Durham said.
“We were fast. David was driving good and I was working with the trim just to keep the boat going.”
Former professional racer Marshall had a blast on the way to the sweep in A class competing with co-pilot and grandson Jacari.
“All the participants had a wonderful time. That’s what it’s all about; competition, fun and friends,” he said.
The 2025 campaign reaches a climax when Bermuda Power Boat Association stage the Annual Rubis Around the Island Race on August 17.
