Bermuda Karting Association opens 2026 in style

The Bermuda Karting Association launched its 50th anniversary year in style on Sunday, with 39 karts taking to the Southside Raceway for the opening race day of 2026 with the eighth race of the Bermuda Rubis Energy Karting Championship.

The L206 Senior class featured a competitive field of 14 karts, with strong consistency across all three heats. Scott Barnes secured victories in heats one and three and finished second in heat two. Jason “Skuzzie” North claimed the win in heat two and finished runner-up behind Barnes in the other two heats. CRG team-mates rounded out the podium finishes, with David Barbosa finishing third in the opening two heats and Marc Tucker taking third in the final contest.

In the Tag Senior division, the opening heat was won by Ryan Burgess, with Barnes dominating the other two heats. Second-place finishes went to Blake Horseman in the first two races, with Burgess finishing second in the closing event. Jorja Thomas delivered a consistent performance, securing third place in every heats

The TAG Junior class was dominated by Tanner Correia, who swept all three heats with first-place finishes. Jonathan Lindberg finished runner-up in the opener with Alondro Albouy taking second in the remaining races. Third place was claimed by Syah Pedro in two of the heats, with Lindberg finishing third in the last contest.

The Shifter Class saw no changes in the top four positions during the first two heats with Ryan Burgess leading, followed by Ryan Rebello, Barnes and Horseman. Rain added an extra challenge in the final heat of the day, but did little to slow the racing. Horseman took the win, followed by Jason Correia in second and Stephen Corrado in third.

Rian Lindo won the first heat In the KZ Master Class, with Jason DeCouto finishing second and William Dunkley third. DeCouto went one better in the next event, followed by Dunkley and Lindo. Rain again featured in the closing heat, in which Dunkley came out on top and DeCouto finished second.
