Bermuda Festival supports piano festival

The Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts, the Bermuda Piano Festival and the Bermuda School of Music are pleased to announce that the Bermuda Festival will now be presenting the Bermuda Piano Festival. The Piano Festival was launched in 2017 by the Bermuda School of Music in collaboration with Dr. Alex Tuchman, as its Founder and Artistic Director. After three highly successful seasons under the auspices of the Bermuda School of Music, the natural progression for the Piano Festival was to align with an organization dedicated to providing performances for the Bermuda public. Dr. Tuchman noted, “The Bermuda School of Music was a fabulous partner and we are so appreciative for its support as the incubator for the Piano Festival, which has enabled us to grow into an established Bermuda cultural event.” Mr. Kent Hayward, of the Bermuda School of Music, commented, “We were very happy to support Alex’s vision for a piano festival in Bermuda. We have known Alex since he performed at City Hall in June 2007 at the age of 15 and have watched with pride and enthusiasm as he matured into a prize winning pianist. We are pleased that he continues to share his talent with the Bermuda community.” Cindy Campbell, Executive Director of the Bermuda Festival said, “When Alex approached the festival, we immediately saw the synergy between the Piano Festival and the Bermuda Festival. The Piano Festival presents high-quality performances to Bermudian audiences and educational opportunities to Bermudian music students and this perfectly aligns with our mission to Entertain, Educate and Inspire. We are excited to be presenting the Piano Festival under the auspices of the Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts.” As part of their community outreach, in addition to their performances, the artists hold Master Classes and private lessons for students residing in Bermuda. In light of COVID-19, the Piano Festival, which was originally scheduled to take place in June with three concerts at City Hall, has now been postponed to 2021. While disappointed, both organizations will use this pause to enhance the planning of the Piano Festival to ensure the success of this new partnership for years to come.• Press release from the Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts
