Man injured in trailer accident

A man suffered a broken leg, cuts to his arm and stomach injuries yesterday after a trailer load of metal construction equipment fell on him.

The victim, 36, was trapped underneath metal hollow ribs at about 9am in Wellington Slip Road, St George's.

Ten firefighters attended the scene and uesd a forklift truck to shift the metal ribs.

The man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he underwent surgery.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.

Three fire engines from Clearwater and two from Hamilton attended the incident.
