Couple accused of threatening man with replica gun appear in court

A married couple accused using an imitation firearm to hold a man captive appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Sam Fraser-Smith, 41, and Saruttana Fraser-Smith, 37, were charged with confining Romone Reid against his will and possession of an imitation firearm with the intent to deprive Mr Reid of his liberty.

Mr Fraser-Smith was also accused of the use of threatening behaviour against Mr Reid.

It is alleged he pointed the weapon at Mr Reid and demanded identification from him.

Ms Fraser-Smith was accused of the use of threatening behaviour.

It is alleged she held Mr Reid at knifepoint and also demanded identification

The incident is alleged to have happened on October 28 at a house in Hamilton Parish.

Mr and Ms Fraser-Smith, from Hamilton Parish, did not enter a plea as the case must be heard in the Supreme Court.

Magistrate Maxanne Anderson released the couple on $3,000 bail each and ordered them to have no contact with the alleged victim.

She adjourned the case until the Supreme Court arraignments session on December 1.
