Fine and ban for man who refused to take breath test

A driver who was stopped by police on Good Friday has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

Andrew Raynor, 37, from Southampton, admitted to refusing to take a breath test when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court today.

The court heard that police were at traffic lights on Reid Street when they saw Raynor, who had stopped, open his car door, throw up onto the pavement and then close the door.

As a result, officers stopped and questioned Raynor who declined to take a breath test both at the scene and at Hamilton Police Station.

In addition to being banned, Raynor was fined $1,200.
