David Burt will join international government and business leaders in Davos, Switzerland for the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum.

The 56th annual meeting, scheduled to start on January 19, is expected to bring together almost 3,000 cross-sector leaders from over 130 countries to discuss shared challenges and push innovation.

In a statement, the Premier said: “This event offers a global platform to share Bermuda’s story, how a small jurisdiction can become a global leader through innovative regulation.

“In Davos, we will build on the progress Bermuda has made over the last eight years to announce new partnerships that will deliver continued investment into Bermuda, which will create jobs for the economy of the future.”

A government spokeswoman said that Mr Burt is scheduled to participate in several panels and sessions during the forum, including “Frontiers of Digital Governance: From DPI to Next-Gen GovTech”, “Stablecoin Adoption for Humanitarian Action”, “Insurability in a Changing World” and “Insurance and Asset Management Leadership”.

The Premier will also hold bilateral meetings with policymakers and leaders in global finance and technology to advance Bermuda’s strategic objectives.

Held under the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue”, the meeting is expected to attract record levels of governmental participation including 400 political leaders, among them about 65 heads of state and government and six of the G7’s leaders.

They will join nearly 850 of the world’s top chief executives and board chairpersons, as well as almost 100 leading business and technology pioneers.

The WEF said a major focus will be on the unprecedented speed of innovation and technological advancement with key voices from industry and academia present.

The meeting will be accessible to the public with over 200 sessions livestreamed. Interested parties can follow the Annual Meeting 2026 on social media using #WEF26.

A forum statement said: “Amid the most complex geopolitical backdrop in decades — marked by rising fragmentation and rapid technological change — the need for an impartial platform that brings together diverse and sometimes diverging voices across industries, regions and generations is urgent.

“Building on the forum’s longstanding tradition of providing a trusted space for dialogue and public-private collaboration, the annual meeting 2026 will enable an open exchange of ideas and perspectives on the issues that matter most to people, economies and the planet, turning shared understanding into action.”
