Barca show their class again in El Classico

El Classico, Real Madrid against Barcelona, didn’t disappoint the fans this time around . . . often these two giants play out a dull, uneventful match. This game was fast and furious throughout with Barca emerging 3-1 winners.Barcelona as always were entertaining although there were signs that they can be beaten by a well organised side that can stick to a game plan.Any team going to the Santiago Bernebeau and getting a win would be ecstatic but it seemed to be easy for Barca, almost as if it was the Nou Camp. For the past three years they have gone there and got a result and walked out as if it was nothing and again they showed that they are the best team in the world. That title, however, will be ultimately decided tomorrow when they play Santos in the FIFA Club World Cup final in what could be a very interesting match. It will be interesting to see how the Brazilians match up against the Spaniards because they both like to play a possession game and if anyone can beat Barca it will be a team who play like Santos.Manchester City’s bad run continues. The loss to Chelsea hasn’t helped their cause but they are still at the summit of the English Premier League and the other teams have to remember that they still have to go to Etihad Stadium.City play beautiful, free flowing football and they were unlucky not to get a result at Chelsea after getting a few bad calls. They had enough chances to win the game, and a penalty appeal that was turned down. But it wasn’t meant to be on that day.If I was a betting man I would still put money on them to win the league. That’s their only loss so far and we’ll see how they rebound against Arsenal this weekend. As for Chelsea, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard have to stay at the club. All the talk about the pair leaving the club is utter nonsense and they should be rewarded for their services to the London club.It is always great to see someone like Lampard coming off the bench to help the side and score and Drogba played a man-of-the-match performance for me. To let them go would be ridiculous. But I was surprised that Fernando Torres didn’t get a game given the importance of the match but they have paid a lot of money for him and they won’t be letting him go anywhere. He is out of form but these things happen to all players. You can’t only work hard and hope you get a chance to produce.Chelsea have to be patient with him because he has age on his side.Manchester United got a good win over Wolves although they would have been very confident.Arsenal continued on their winning ways by beating Everton after it looked like it would be a draw but when you have a striker like Robin Van Persie you will always back yourself to win. His match-winning goal was stunning. He is playing brilliantly right now and is one of the most in-form strikers in the world. Any club would love to have him in their side. The big game for them is City this weekend and if they can go there and get a win then people can say, hey they are the real deal and they have a chance to lift the title.Arsenal celebrated their 125th anniversary on the weekend and revealed statues of legends Tony Adams, Herbert Chapman and Thierry Henry, which is a fabulous honour for the trio.n I would also like to send my condolences to the family of Sheridan Raynor, who was a great man and excellent athlete. He will be truly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this time.
