Get into the festive mood with the 18th Tree of Lights ceremony

Happy Thanksgiving!I’m not quite sure why we celebrate American Thanksgiving here but hey, any excuse to have a roast turkey dinner is absolutely fine with me! Here is what’s happening in Bermuda:n The 18th annual Tree of Lights, a tree-lighting ceremony for the memorial tree which stands in front of City Hall, will be tomorrow at 5.30pm.The event will include performances by Saltus School Choir, Shacobi Basden, Bermuda High School Choir, Menuhin Foundation, Bermuda Regiment Band, Bermuda Islands Pipe Band and a special appearance by Santa Claus!n Bermudian reggaelutionary Uzimon is celebrating the release of his latest album with a party at Docksiders on Saturday. Doors open at 9pm.Opening act Another Plane Crash starts at 9.30pm, and Uzimon and his five-piece NYC touring band will perform from 11pm. Sure to be a future Grammy winner! Tickets are $20 in advance (sold at Docksiders) or $25 at the door.n The Bermuda Society of Interior Designer is holding a holiday wreath show and silent auction at the Bermuda Society of Arts through Tuesday.BSID members, Industry Alliance members, friends and local artists have created this series of whimsical, dramatic and playful wreaths to be sold to the highest bidder as a benefit for the Eliza Doolittle Society and BSoA Scholarship.Silent bids on all wreaths are accepted until 5.30pm on Tuesday. The City Ball will encompass all three levels of the City Hall building to create a beautiful dining, dancing and live entertainment experience to welcome in 2013.Tickets are $175 if purchased by December 1 ($200 thereafter). The price includes a five-course meal, three complimentary beverages, a signature cocktail upon entry, a glass of wine at dinner, NYE party favours and a glass of champagne, balloon drop and confetti cannons at midnight.
