Join in Bermuda Heroes Weekend festivities

Prepare yourself for upcoming changes in the regulatory environment at the Real Estate Compliance for 2016: What You Need to Know session, presented by Certainty on Tuesday, June 14. From noon until 1.30pm at Bermuda Chamber of Commerce, this lunch-and-learn session will teach attendees the fundamental concepts, terms and steps to comply with the anticipated anti-money laundering (AML) requirements. It will set out the international initiatives and circumstances which created the pressure on local authorities to implement a local AML regime. Key concepts to be covered include: the key functions of the designated compliance person; the functions of the regulator/supervisor; the components and impacts of an AML regulatory framework; the expectations surrounding risk assessments; the unique organisational characteristics which inform compliance programmes; and how to make policies and procedures pragmatic and relevant. After this session, attendees will have enough information to determine the extent of the work required to comply with AML obligations. The cost is $20 for members and $40 for non-members. Get ready to get soaked on Carnival Wednesday as Hello Bermuda and KR Productions present Drench'd Wet Fete on Wednesday, June 15. From 4pm to 10pm at the poolside at Coco Reef Resort, you can expect six hours of energetic fun with the best local and international DJs in the business pumping the best of Soca. The dress code is strictly swimwear, with a warning that this is not a fete to pose up, as there will be a water hose, water balloons, super soakers and, of course, a pool to get you wet. Enjoy an afternoon of sailing and swimming as CastAway Bermuda: The Boatride will take place aboard the MV Elizabeth on Thursday, June 16. Boarding will begin promptly at 1pm at Albuoy's Point for a 2pm departure, before returning to the Dock at 6pm. A unique treat to Castaway Bermuda will be the ability to swim in the beautiful waters of Bermuda, so make sure you wear your bathing suit. Castaway will feature an international and local cast of DJs and will be inclusive of food. A limited batch of early bird tickets are $65 and available from www.BDAtix.bm. Join in the festivities at Bermuda Heroes Weekend, Bermuda's second annual Carnival, running from Friday, June 17 until Monday, June 20. The Bermuda Heroes Weekend is a series of events organized by the BHW Ltd. who are dedicated to providing unique cultural experiences and quality entertainment. Opening Night will be on Friday, June 17, at the National Sports Centre in Devonshire. Gates open at 6pm and the show starts at 7pm. This is the biggest Soca event ever to be hosted on Bermuda's shores and in year two it will be even better than the first. This event will feature international artists Kes The Band, Lyrikal, Voice, Teddyson John, Preedy, Ricardo Drue and King Bubba FM as well as international DJs Barrie Hype, Crown Prince, Dr. Jay, EMan and DJ Stephen, local band D.I.A. and local DJ, DJ Rusty G. Tickets are $20, $30 at the gate, $10 for children aged 12 and under, and are available at www.pTix.bm. Limited all inclusive Ultra-VIP tickets are available at a cost of $200 each. From 3am until 8am, on Saturday, June 18th, you can watch the sun rise with paint and powder to the sounds of local and international DJs at Glow J'Ouvert at the Michael Preece Softball Stadium at Bernard's Park in Pembroke. This is an 18 and older event, so identification is a must. Tickets are $125, including food and drink, and available from www.pTix.bm.

Promoters Day on Sunday, June 19, will include everything from boat rides, breakfast parties, all-inclusive events, clubs and more organised by different promoters around the island. One of these events will be Pan in the Park at Victoria Park, featuring local and international Pan artists and bands, from 3pm until 7pm. Information on other events will be shared on their website and social media as it becomes available. Rounding off the holiday weekend in style will be The BHW Raft Up on Monday, June 20th. Bring your boat and raft up or purchase a ticket for their chartered boat. The chartered boat leaves Hamilton at noon, returning at 6.30pm, with the raft up taking place outside Morgan's Point.
