There are many fun and inexpensive activities across the Island to enjoy with your children that can provide loads of exercise, a dose of fresh air and, of course, a learning experience.

Here is a list of several places that are child-friendly and a perfect way to for your child to release their abundance of energy.

Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo<$>

The Aquarium in Flatts is full of fascinating, kid-friendly exhibits. From the large array of fish tanks to the funny antics of the harbour seals, children will delight in an afternoon spent here.

Not to be missed is The Discovery Room, complete with touch pool and a tabletop aquarium for hands-on discovery. Enjoy a picnic at the benches provided or make your way over to the Flatts docks and watch the tide come in under the bridge.

WindReach Recreational Village<$>

This facility has a myriad of fun activities that children will enjoy. Spend a night in one of the specially- built handicap accessible cabins or pitch a tent and enjoy the lulling sounds of Bermuda’s nature.

Wake up and enjoy a picnic on the grounds or take a walk through the sensory trail and allow your children to enjoy the petting zoo. WindReach is home to many animals including donkeys, goats, miniature horses and birds. WindReach is a multifunctional centre that allows both able bodied and physically challenged people to utilise its facilities.

Fort St. Catherine<$>

Introduce your children to a slice of Bermuda history in the tunnels of one of Bermuda’s biggest forts. Inspect the cannons, jump the dry moat (by using the bridge, of course) and keep an eye out for prisoners in the fort’s cells.

Once outside, check the waters below for beautiful parrotfish. If the weather is good, hop over to the adjacent beach, which is often calm and enjoyable for children.

Clearwater Beach<$>

This beach can get crowded during the summer but it is a perfect spot for children as it remains relatively calm and is quite shallow. The new playground offers hours of amusement and the nature trails are a fun exploration for older children.

The grassy knoll at the far end of the beach is the perfect spot for a picnic with large trees to shield the family from the swelterthe family from the sweltering Bermuda sun.

Shelly Bay Beach Park

Like Clearwater Beach, this beach and park are outstanding for children and the water is shallow, which is great for the little ones.

The park is newly refurbished and is a great source of entertainment for children.

Even when the weather isn’t perfect or the water is too chilly, this park will amuse and exhaust the little ones.

Botanical Gardens

Take a stroll through the gardens and teach your children about the different flowers or show them how to roll down a gentle hill. The park has many great, shady spots for picnics and also provides picnic benches.

Bring along a ball or Frisbee and you’ll have your child running around in no time.

So what are you waiting for? Get out and enjoy the great weather!
