Assistant Director of Insurance, Suzanne Williams has been employed by the Bermuda Monetary Authority for just over two years.

In her role as an Assistant Director of the Compliance Team in the Insurance Department, her day-to-day responsibilities involve dealing with any issue of non-compliance with the provisions set out in the Insurance Act 1978 and its related regulations.

“More specifically, my main focus is to either ensure the resolution of the non-compliant issues for all regulated insurers in our jurisdiction or to assist the insurer in exiting the market,” she said.

“In addition, to this I also have responsibility for issues of non-compliance, such as insurance managers, brokers, agents, etc.”

Ms Williams qualified as a Certified Public Accountant in 1999 and obtained the Associate in Reinsurance designation last year. And she joined the Authority in February 2005.

“Before joining the Bermuda Monetary Authority I spent eight years with KPMG Bermuda,” said the 32-year-old.

Of the new facility, she said that it is a pleasure to work in.

“It is wonderful to have everyone under one roof,” said Ms Williams. “We finally have a building that is befitting of the organisation.”
