From serving the Queen to running the King!

To look at Lancashire native Paul Chadderton, he looks like any other friendly chap, but this assistant manager at Henry VIII on South Shore Road probably has some unique stories tell, and secrets to keep.

You see, before coming to Bermuda in 2000, he served as the Queen’s Personal Footman.

According to the question-and-answer section, Royal Insight, of www.royal.gov.uk, which is the official website of the British Monarchy:<\p>“Footmen carry out general errands and duties in both the Royal residences and whilst travelling with members of the Royal Family on official duties.”

“Their duties range from taking newspapers and mail to guests’ bedrooms, to serving and clearing meals and carrying messages. They also ride on the Royal carriages on State occassions and at other times, such as when Ambassadors are driven to and from Buckingham Palace to present their credentials to The Queen.”

Mr. Chadderton joined the royal household in 1993, and was promoted to one of the Queen’s personal footman a year later.

“I only did duties for the Queen,” he said.
