All I want for Christmas ...
I hope that all the sporting groups who have internal conflicts can resolve them in 2005 and secondly for those sporting groups that are in need of additional financing or support skills can find them."
My main hope for rugby is really for the following year ? 2006 ? and that is to find out that Bermuda's Sevens national team will be going to the Commonwealth Games. That is my main hope. Also I am trying out for Bermuda's national basketball team right now. I haven't played for three years and it would be great to make that team and have success at the Island Games in the summer of 2005. I played basketball at St. Mary's in Canada and I played in high school in Bermuda at Warwick Academy. But after college I only played rugby and then my knee was injured. Fortunately my knee is back fine so I am playing basketball as well now."
"I would hope for plenty of games for the national team. We are in the process of working on that. But we need regular games for the team."
"For me I would like to try some other regattas ? I would like to go to some regattas I haven't been to before. Just branch out a bit."
"Basically I am hoping that we as a national cricket team can do what no other team has yet to do and that is qualify for the World Cup."
I am hoping for a successful Race Weekend and support from the community. Also I hope the Pittsburg Steelers win the Superbowl! I am really a San Francisco 49ers fan but they definitely won't be in there!"
Well there are no Olympics, Commonwealth Games or Pan American Games next year. But what I would really like to see is Bermuda get a covered indoor 50-metre swimming pool for our swimmers with a family recreational facility included."

"I hope that we come together as a community to deal with sports in Bermuda on a serious level ? that is for all sports, football, cricket, track and field, gymnastics, rugby ? all sports. I also hope that we can all try to assist Bermuda's athletes to reach higher levels both locally and internationally .... see if we can find the magic to take sports to a new level in Bermuda. That would be my sporting wish."

My goal for this season is to get into the 60s of world-ranked players. Right now I am ranked number 78. I want to get into the 60s or higher. I do not want to go below 80 and I want to keep moving up. Ideally I would like to have one break-free event where I get to the finals or win an event."

Well we have been very successful in 2004, and my wish for 2005 would be that the sport will continue for grow and that we can take advantage of the rhythm that has been acquired over the last couple of years. We have the ITF Junior World Ranking Tournament in June and I hope that all of our juniors prepare and peak at the right time for that event which carries so much weight for those important world ranking points."
"I look for the sport of athletics to continue to grow on the foundation of the great success of 2004. We have had highly successful athletic endevors in 2004 and I hope that will provide a platform for 2005."
"We have already had an early Christmas present ? we have just found out that we have two sponsors exemptions for the BPGA for the New England Open in September. The winner and runner-up of the BPGA championship will be exempt to play in New England. It is great for the association. I would like to see the level of participation increase and Bermuda hopefully qualify for the World Cup. I hope the association will continue to grow like it has in 2004. We have increased our tournaments by 100 percent so things are looking up and I hope we continue to thrive as an association and hope that all the pros continue to support the BPGA."
"On the serious side I would like to see fair reporting. When I say fair reporting I mean if you blast the BTFA also find informaiton to blast sailing or bowling or other sports. Some media only blast track and field, cricket and football...they don't pick on the white sports. I feel fair reporting is you should pick on everybody. On the lighter side I want Kavin Smith's right knee, flat abs, and still have my good appetite (because Kavin doesn't eat too much and is too choisy with food). The I'll only pass Paula Radcliffe 100 yards from the finish in the Bermuda Marathon...that's all a joke ha ha."
"I would like to see all sports start to get the financing that they need to upgrade their facilities and improve on their performances. We in Bermuda seem to do things on the cheap level and then we expect great things from our athletes. We need to invest in clubs and places like the National Sports Centre."
"I would like to see things continue as well as they did in 2004 ? we have an excellent group of swimmers coming through at all age groups and I hope they continue to develop. But most of all I hope that Santa Claus will bring us a 50-metre pool and a diving facility. If there is nothing else in the stocking but that, I would be over the moon. That is one thing we want . . . a 50-metre pool and diving facility. There is a lot support throughout the community for the pool and there are so many other areas that will benefit other than competitive swimming. That is a big enough of a wish-list!"
"We hope to continue and improve on the successes we had in 2004. We had a pretty good all-round year ? representation at the Olympics in Greece and we won the Caribbean Junior Jumping Championships for the first time. We have had people going away on coaching courses and we are hoping to improve locally and internationally."
