Bermuda's Freemasons to enjoy a bumper week

A MOMENTOUS week is in the offing for Freemasons in Bermuda.It will be highlighted by the presence of distinguished Grand Lodge Officers and other Masons from Boston, Pennsylvania, Ireland, Scotland, Jamaica and the Bahamas. They will participate in a hectic round of installations, investments, banquets and other ceremonies.

A MOMENTOUS week is in the offing for Freemasons in Bermuda.

It will be highlighted by the presence of distinguished Grand Lodge Officers and other Masons from Boston, Pennsylvania, Ireland, Scotland, Jamaica and the Bahamas. They will participate in a hectic round of installations, investments, banquets and other ceremonies.

First arrivals were a dozen Prince Hall Masons from Massachusetts, scheduled to make a reciprocal visit last night to Friendship and Harmony Lodge at Khyber Pass.

They will also attend the annual Installation meeting tomorrow afternoon of Hannibal Lodge in St. George's. Due today, especially for that Hannibal meeting, and other meetings to follow is a delegation of 19 from the New Jersey.

The Grand Secretary of Instruction of the Grand Lodge of Ireland, Michael Ward, arrives from Dublin on Sunday evening. He is the expert ritualist of Irish Freemasonry world-wide. Mr. Ward will be attending the Installation meeting of the Bermuda Provincial Grand Lodge of Ireland on Tuesday in St. George's, as the guest of the Provincial Grand Master, St. Clair (Brinky) Tucker. Mr. Ward will also participate on Wednesday at the Irish Chapter Installation in Hamilton.

The Provincial GM of Jamaica and the Bahamas, Derrick McCoy, is due on Sunday for the Tuesday installation of the Provincial Grand Lodge and on Wednesday he will attend a meeting of the an Irish Chapter Meeting.

Also attending the Tuesday meeting will be the Past PGM of Jamaica, James Moss-Solomon. He is due in Bermuda on Monday to be invested by Mr. Ward as the Grand Superintendent of all Irish Chapters in Jamaica.

A major highlight of the Provincial Grand Lodge meeting will the conferment to Past PGM of Bermuda, Dr. Gerard Bean, with the rank of Hon. Grand Junior Warden. That is the highest Grand rank that can be conferred by the Irish Grand Lodge. He will be invested by Mr. Ward.

Also due in Bermuda is Wor. Bro. James Sieber of the Pennsylvania Research Lodge to lecture on Thursday at a meeting of the Bermuda Installed Masters Lodge No. 9271 of the Grand Registry of England.
