Holiday events re-routed because of Stadium work

ONGOING construction work at the National Sports Stadium has forced organisers of this year?s Bermuda Day celebrations to re-route events.

Yesterday a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Community Affairs & Sport confirmed that the Bermuda Day Parade and Annual Marathon Derby will now finish at Hamilton?s Bernard Park.

?The Bermuda Day Parade route will start on Front Street in front of the Bank of Bermuda,? the spokeswoman said.

?It will proceed along Front Street to Court Street, turn left onto Church Street, right onto Cedar Avenue continuing to Palmetto Road, turning right onto Dutton Avenue and finishing in Bernard Park.

?The return to the Hamilton venue also means that the Annual Marathon Derby route will revert to its former route from Front Street, namely along Church Street, King Street, Victoria Street, Cedar Avenue and Marsh Folly to finish at Bernard Park.?

The spokeswoman added that organisations affected by the change of route have been notified by the Ministry.
