"CONCERTS In The Park" are going island-wide.

Having been held exclusively in Victoria Park, Hamilton for the past 15 years, the four monthly concerts will now start in Hamilton, move on to Dockyard and then to Clearwater Beach, before returning to Hamilton.

The project, which has traditionally attracted large attendances, has been renamed "Round de Rock With Concerts In The Park".

The series will kick off in Victoria Park on Sunday evening, with a "gospel with soul" theme.

The remaining concerts will be held on the first Sunday of the next three months. The Snorkel Park in Dockyard will host "Rock the Dock" on July 3, while "Blue over Blue" will be held at Clearwater Beach on August 7. "Swing-n-Sail" will complete the series at Barr's Bay Park, Hamilton, on September 4.

"Concerts in the Park have had a wonderful, long run in Victoria Park and so we felt it was time to take them on the road for the whole island to enjoy," said Alan Thompson, president and chief executive officer of sponsors Butterfield Bank.

"Our focus is to support quality, community events and also champion our talented Bermudian performers.

"To this end we will be making a compilation CD of the concerts and using the proceeds to fund a musical scholarship."

Leaflets about the concerts are available in local grocery stores.
