Purr-fect! Fifty entries are lined up for the big cat show in Hamilton

FROM housegold moggies to pedigree felines, all kinds of cats will be in the spotlight tomorrow at the 25th Bermuda Cat Fanciers' Association Cat Show.

The show will take place in the Harbour Room at the Number One Shed on Front Street and judging will start at 9.30 a.m.

There will be separate categories for registered pedigree cats and non-pedigree pets. The BCFA holds two shows per year, in March and October.

"We are affiliated with the Cat Fanciers' Association of the US which has the largest registry of pedigree cats in the world," BCFA president Morag Smith said.

"We are flying in three CFA-registered judges, two from the US and one from Canada.

"We are expecting about 50 entries this year, which is about normal."

There will be a raffle and vendors and a special section on the Hogwarts School of Wizardry, as featured in the Harry Potter books and movies.

Both the Bermuda Feline Assistance Bureau (BFAB) and the Society for the Protection of Animals (SPCA) will be represented and both will be showing some cats for adoption - though potential owners will not be able to take home cats directly from the show.

l BFAB will be staging a fund-raising dinner at Ariel Sands next Friday evening, October 31.

Tickets for the buffet dinner cost $65 can be booked by ringing the BFAB voicemail number, 291-1737.

There will be door prizes and a raffle, with the draw being held at 9 p.m.

A cash bar will be open from 6.30 p.m., with dinner scheduled to start at 7.30 p.m.
