Windows to be fixed by end of year
THE broken windows at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital that have been boarded up since they were shattered by Hurricane Fabian will be repaired by the year end, the Bermuda Hospitals Board said yesterday.
The main damage to the hospital was to administration offices which should be refurbished within weeks.
A BHB statement said yesterday: "The Bermuda Hospitals Board is fully operational. The main damage was to the fifth floor offices.
"The temporary boarding will be replaced with windows in 12 weeks when they arrive on the island. The internal refit of the offices will take approximately one month.
"The Old Hospital building roof repairs have been completed and the main hospital building roof repairs is scheduled, as a priority, by Kaissa, a local firm, when the sealing materials arrive on the island. The roof on completion will have a three-year warranty from Kaissa."
A few computers were also damaged by the hurricane and have been replaced, the statement added.
