Apply energy better
March 17, 2003
Dear Sir,
I was absolutely disgusted to read last week about gangs taking to the streets and accusing others that they are invading on their turf? Their turf? Do they have documents that state certain streets or areas belong to them? Perhaps then, they should be paying taxes on their supposed properties? How absurd!
My associate was telling me how her son's friend was pulled off of his bike when trying to pick up his cousin. They told this youth that he did not belong in the area, beat him and robbed him. Even though the person told this group that he had family in the area (why should he have to justify his driving down a particular road in the first place?), they still attacked him. Luckily he was able to escape on his bike before more damage could be done. Are they next going to stand outside establishments and ask people why they are in the store if there is another one located closer to where they live? I truly do appreciate the work of the Police. It takes a special individual to be able to confront these thugs. Perhaps these youth who seem to have enough energy need to apply it a little better. I suggest getting a job!
