Book your place at Island reading festival
Victoria Park will be transformed into a huge fun reading room for children on Saturday, June 4 when the Bermuda Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. host its sixth annual Children?s Reading Festival.
The sorority wants to encourage parents to read to their children and children to read for themselves. A complimentary book will be given to each child and stories will be read throughout the day.
Other fun activities include an arts station, face painting and a fun castle. The event is open to the public and free beverages and popcorn will be available.
?We want to be able to share the joy, adventure and excitement that comes from reading with the children who attend our reading festival,? said Jana Lambert, Education Chairperson. ?Sadly, many children?s homes do not have child appropriate books. This means that in many cases books are not a part of a child?s home life. By giving a complimentary book to each child we hope to help start a collection, or add to an existing library.?
