Keishon shows his writing talent

Eleven year-old Keishon Ming has a lot to smile about these days. He is one of ten finalists world-wide to compete in the Annual Cond? Nast Traveller Essay Contest. is a leading magazine in the tourism industry.

To win the contest aimed at students under the age of twelve, Keishon answered the question, "If a visitor was coming to your country for the first time, what would you suggest they see and do?"

His suggestions included staying at the Southampton Princess and visiting the aquarium.

The Warwick Academy student said he was surprised that he had beat out other students for the win, especially since he had never won a writing competition before.

"I am very proud. This is the first competition that I've won."

The aspiring architect said that his love for the Island inspired him to enter the contest.

He also thanked his teacher at the time, Nikita Euler.

"Mrs. Euler taught me how to write in ways I had never learned before and I am proud of her for that."

However, Mrs. Euler received her praises with modesty.

"Keishon is a born writer. I am so elated that I can't find the words to explain how excited I am."

Keishon will be travelling to the Bahamas in October to compete against other essay winners in the Caribbean Tourism Organisation for a grand prize of $2,500.

He said he is looking to win more writing contests in the future and plans to enter the
