Leave soft targets alone

It must be patently clear to all by now that the clumsy, ill thought out, new police initiative to reduce road accidents by lowering the speed limit to the ridiculous 35 km has done little but create some additional financing in support of Jennifer's champagne bill. Whilst Aunt Mable and Granny Smith may have cooled their heels a little after paying a good portion of their pensions in police fines for driving at 38 km, clearly the "red light runners", the "dippers and weavers", the "80 km gang" and the omnipresent "decibel ear-splitters", the real perpetrators of road rage and accidents, run free. How can we allow so much potential Government income to remain unrealised? Maybe it's about time the Police started after some of the real problems and left the soft, easy targets alone.

Dear Sir,
