It cuts both ways
July 21, 2004
Dear Sir,
I would like to send a message out to the young boys of Bermuda.
I am going to try my best to word this message in a simple realistic way.
Girls having sex ? Under Age:
The young girls and boys today are having sex at a very young age, most people think it is always the boy who entices the girl but not in this era, today it works both ways. If a girl feels she is attracted to a boy and she wants him, 95 percent chance she will get him, no problem. We have to remember that boys and men are very weak in this area it is a natural instinct.
These under age girls must take more responsibility of their actions, not just the boys. (Unfortunately the girls have no pride in themselves today you can tell by the way they dress very seductive and to think the parents/guardians allow it, and how they think it looks so cute, wake up and stop encouraging it.) girls are drinking alcohol, having sex and using drugs, as soon as those hormones start kicking in that is when it all begins.
The very upsetting part about this whole scenario and very unfortunate the boy gets done for it, they take all the blame, they get the bad name, their character ruined, but the girl nothing, what the girl gets is "poor little girl".
These girls think nothing of getting pregnant and walking around with a baby in their stomachs and eventually in their arms, they think it is wonderful, they feel no shame, they do not understand the responsibility of having a baby, they just don't care as long as they lay down for the boy and have his baby they love it, once the boy shows no more interest in that girl then that's when the girl gets upset and wants to call the Police it is called revenge and then when you look the boy is arrested locked up sent to the courts the judge sentence that boy to Westgate for what ! did he really commit a crime? They had consensual sex, but the boy is the one who is wrong and suffers the consequences not the girl because in the eyes of the law she had done nothing wrong...
So boys you must be aware, in the law books the two words UNDER AGE is what is landing you guys in prison, be strong and vocal when a girl comes on to you take control tell the girl to go home and play with their dolls. (Yeah right)!!
We here it so many times we must protect the women of this country well we also must protect the men of this country, so guys wake up watch out of those little frisky girls.... they will get you into trouble real quick....
We should consider creating a school called Motherhood for young girls, so when they complete the course of having a baby they receive a diploma in Motherhood.

A lack of consistency

Dear Sir,
As a long time consumer of Dunkley's Blue milk I would like to add my two cents to the debate. The claim that UHT froths better may be true but the problem with the local fresh milk is that the quality is inconsistent.
The national dairy herd comprises of a small number of producers who milk a varying number of cattle, ranging from as few as two to as many as sixty depending on the number that are "dry" and awaiting a new calf.
These producers all sell the bulk of their milk to Dunkleys for processing and as far as I am aware they each receive the same rate per quart regardless of the quality of the product.
In the USA, Canada,or the United Kingdom producers are paid on the basis of milk solids and are penalised if the milk has a high somatic cell count ... neither scheme is in place in Bermuda.
The smallest dairies such as the one visible on the roadside close to St. Mark's Church have consistently produced the highest quality product but receive no financial reward as compared to the larger producers.
Until such time as Dunkley's chooses to introduce some form of incentive scheme we will continue to see a variation in the quality of the local product, particularly when the cows are heat stressed in July, August and September when a cool glass of milk is such a joy to consume!
Many persons are still blissfully unaware that the only local milk available is in the blue or blue and pink containers, and that green, pink and red milk is manufactured from skim milk powder reconstituted with water and soy bean oil as necessary.

Don't insult me
July 27, 2004
Dear Sir,
In today's , Mr. T. M. Trott has written a threatening, abusive and insulting letter which fully qualifies for an investigation under the Human Rights Act 1981, Section 8a which forbids the publication of statements that are threatening, abusive or insulting to any group, based on colour, ethnic origin, religion or Nationality.
This is what Mr. Trott has written with respect to me and Independence.
"Former PLP Senator Calvin Smith is an excellent example of a good man with all the wrong ideas. His obsession with Independence is both peculiar and dangerous. With all the examples of negativity, widespread corruption, money laundering, and self-destruction we see from Caribbean nations how could any sane, logical person turn around and tell Bermuda that the Caribbean is a role model for Independence?" And he concludes: "Please Mr. Calvin Smith, let's work together to end the lunacy".
Mr. Trott, the islands of Barbados and Bahamas are very similar to Bermuda in terms of current and future trends in economic development. Both have a black majority and a large white minority and both have a history of denial of opportunity to the majority black population based solely on race. However, unlike Bermuda, both islands are independent and again, unlike Bermuda, have invested heavily in training their former black underclass. Today, again unlike Bermuda, the management of their banks and hotels reflect the proportions of their majority population. In fact, Barbados exports large numbers of trained hotel staffs to Bermuda, including a manager, Mr. Billy Griffiths. And again, unlike Bermuda, neither island would permit a landlord to refuse a rental to a distinguished manager like Mr. Griffiths purely because of his race.
What can we learn from the Caribbean? We can learn how to maximise the heavily submerged talents of Bermuda's majority black population thereby reducing our dependence on foreign managers and administrators and improving our Balance of Payments.
By the way, please don't insult me by asking me to join you in anything as long as you are so steeped in bigotry and race hate.
