Making the grade with young Calais

Future business-woman Calais Lynch was always encouraged to attend a higher education institute.The 17-year-old said that her parents always talked of university.She said: "Ever since I was a little girl they wanted me to go to university, so that I could get the job I wanted and to be able to enjoy life's experiences.

The 17-year-old said that her parents always talked of university.

She said: "Ever since I was a little girl they wanted me to go to university, so that I could get the job I wanted and to be able to enjoy life's experiences.

"After university my aims are to become a successful business woman. I want to be able to travel so that I can experience the many cultures of the world."

The Warwick Academy Sixth Form student is planning to attend Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario to study either accounting or international business.

Calais a Sandys resident said that she does her homework nightly to some form of noise in the background and she hands in her assignments on time.

If you are not doing so well in school she said: "Don't wait until the last minute to do homework or to study for exams because you will always think that you will have enough time and you usually wont.

"I find it is better for me to do a little of both cramming and studying in advance, but I remember facts closer to the test.

"Although I am an 'A' student, I still find that I have to work at it."

She is currently preparing for 'A' level exams in mathematics, Spanish and business studies.

Calais has been on the Honours List since her first year and her best subject is mathematics and her worst is English.

She has won the Princess Hotel Award for scholastic achievement, the Spanish and geography awards and a full scholarship for enrolment in the Warwick Academy Sixth Form.

In her spare time she listens to music, reads, plays volley ball and attends art classes twice a week.
