Minister of hot air

Nearly every Bermudian would go to their doctor if they were sick...not to the personnel manager at their place of employment. That is quite elementary.Given that fact, can anyone explain why the PLP would appoint a personnel manager to run Tourism. Our Tourism Department is certainly ailing big time and they turn around and appoint someone without any background, experience...or industry contacts. Thirty-seven years service in Government is very commendable, but does not provide any qualifications for Tourism, which is privately owned and susceptible to market conditions - rather than Government edicts.

Dear Sir,

Nearly every Bermudian would go to their doctor if they were sick...not to the personnel manager at their place of employment. That is quite elementary.

Given that fact, can anyone explain why the PLP would appoint a personnel manager to run Tourism.

Stonington Beach Hotel is a total disaster, despite almost unlimited capital and a superbly beautiful location. Our windbag Tourism Minister has shown what he can deliver; nothing but hot air. The Tourism budget of $34,000,000 would be better spent on free airline tickets in New York City than on the efforts of this bunch of amateurs.

The whole department should be turned over to private enterprise, and overseas professionals, in an effort to rescue it before it is too late.

BERMUDIAN
