MPs launch web site ? with Alexander's help
UNITED Bermuda Party MPs Michael Dunkley and John Barritt have launched a new web site on the Internet.
Now all constituents of Devonshire can log on to www.ubpdev.com to keep abreast of developments in Parliament and matters concerning their constituency.
"We think it's a great way to try to embrace the use of the Internet to introduce a means of communication with constituents that hasn't been available until now," said Mr. Barritt yesterday.
"And we have been thinking for some time as to how we might employ the Internet to stay in touch with our constituents. "
At present, the web site, programmed by 17-year-old computer whiz Alexander Anderson, consists of general legislative reports and columns written by both Mr. Barritt and Mr. Dunkley, and is updated weekly.
Mr. Barritt added: "It's been online now for a couple of weeks and we've been testing it and making changes here and there. Now all of our constituents can keep in touch by logging on to the web site to see what's going on."
Mr. Barritt also plans to expand the web site to include others with a vested interest in the constituency of Devonshire in the near future.
"We have done this for the UBP constituents of Devonshire and Michael (Dunkley) and I are the only two elected members of the party in the parish using it at the moment.
"But we intend to invite other of our colleagues who are interested in the constituency to use it as well," he said.
