Not harsh enough

These few days have just shown us exactly where Bermuda's future lies. Why have all these children out of school for more than three days in one month? Has any one asked themselves why? This shows me and many of those who see and are concerned where us Bermudian's interests lies. Money and self-satisfaction come before our children's lives and future and this is appalling. Teachers need to find another way to ask for a pay rise, without destroying my children's future and the future of this country.

Dear Sir,

These few days have just shown us exactly where Bermuda's future lies. Why have all these children out of school for more than three days in one month? Has any one asked themselves why? This shows me and many of those who see and are concerned where us Bermudian's interests lies. Money and self-satisfaction come before our children's lives and future and this is appalling. Teachers need to find another way to ask for a pay rise, without destroying my children's future and the future of this country.

We parents need to be aroused and upset about this problem. I honestly think it is disgusting that some parents are enjoying this time too, as a break/excuse out of work. We need educated children and teenagers to be able to have an existing generation. If we do not pay attention now imagine Bermuda 20 to 30 years down the line will have people walking the street uneducated enough to do anything in Bermuda and for Bermuda, except to sell drugs and make babies. That is when more foreign countries will have to come in and work in our jobs and this country will be back to the days of history. Our grandparents and parents struggled hard enough to get us where we are today, for us to let such days come to pass.

Harsh discipline needs to get back into our schools and may be we can start making men and women out of this nation. We are not being 'harsh enough' with this education system. No one is putting enough effort to see a change. I think our leaders need to look back into this year's school's records and maybe they will start making some changes.

God Help Us and the 'FUTURE' of Bermuda.
