Put CedarBridge on top
March 27, 2002
Dear Sir,
I'm writing this letter in reference to what I observed in the Tuesday, March 26, 2002 daily paper. I looked on the front page and saw a small picture at the bottom right corner. The students I saw in the picture are the young people of tomorrow. I recognised these intelligent young people, because I watched them dominate and win The Bermuda School's Annual Quiz that was held recently. These students are from CedarBridge Academy.
Despite the negative publicity, I praise them for the positive. I'm eighty-five percent positive that when most Bermudians hear "CedarBridge Academy" they are quick to dwell on the negative publicity and/or degrade those who attend that school. I am not one of those people. My mother taught me that when comparing negative and positive, the latter is far greater.
Which is better, good news or bad? The last time I recall, the majority if not all the negative publicity about CedarBridge has been placed on the top of the front page in bold letters. What I don't comprehend is when the aforementioned students of CedarBridge Academy does their school body, principal, teachers, parents, Island, and most of all themselves proud, their good doings are viewed on a little picture and placed at the bottom right corner of the front page where it can be easily overlooked.
Sir, I request that you put the CedarBridge Academy Quiz Team on the top of the front page where they belong, titled in bold letters with a reasonable sized picture. They have been at the bottom for too long. They are the head and not the tail. Let their achievements be exalted high. So high that Bermudians can easily be reassured that CedarBridge equals positive not negative.
