Education Minister Paula Cox is right to reconsider school safety standards following the stabbing of security guard Karim Wales at CedarBridge Academy yesterday.

Students and teachers must feel safe within their schools to learn and yesterday's incident shows that sensible steps need to be taken to enable that to happen.

While it is true that no security plan can possibly anticipate every event, now is the time to make sure that all reasonable precautions have been taken.
