The Caricom debate

I am still listening to and reading the pros and cons of associate membership of Bermuda in Caricom. One thing I observe, the opposition to it is fairly strong. Still I wonder whether it would be as strong if we still had (God forbid) a UBP government who saw more advantages in it than disadvantages. Who would simply ignore what Sir John Swan said. They don't pay any attention to him anyhow. None of them would even invite him to tea after he left office as Premier. Some had sought to puppetise him anyhow. Incidently I was the only one to publicly express appreciation for his persistence in Bermuda obtaining extension of the US Tax Treaty after it had been received by Barbados.

Dear Sir,

Had that feeling persists that the UBP always knows what it is doing and the PLP don't despite its successes.

On another subject. I have never called in to a talk show. Apparently there is a caller who sounds like me judging by the scores of folks who comment about it.

While we are considering Caricom membership. I hope the new US Consul won't think badly of us, financial wizard that he is.
