Dear Sir,

I am Canadian and have been a repeat visitor to Bermuda for many years. I have been following the taxi dispute and feel compelled to have my say after reading Charles Richardson's letter. I guess you know where I am going with this. He mentioned the Canadian visitor who would still be alive today if her taxi showed up.

Bermuda has not been the same for my husband and I since this tragedy, and it's sickening to hear that the installation of a more efficient system is being fought to this degree.

Simply the best

Dear Sir,

As frequent travellers across the US and yearly visitors to Bermuda, we have experienced many cab rides and find that the taxi drivers on this Island are - by far - the best. Friendly, courteous, informative and always available when we have needed them. We fail to understand the need for GPS systems.

In our travels in the US we have experienced the GPS systems first hand and still continue to have extended waits along with poor service and drivers who take advantage of visitors to their city.

Obviously as tourists, we don't know all issues concerning this decision. Perhaps it is not the taxi drivers, but rather the locals who may take advantage of the service they provide. If improvements are needed at least allow the drivers to shop for reasonably priced systems - either from here, or abroad.
