Warwick Academy musicians hit right note with visits to schools
Young performers from Warwick Academy gave students at eight primary schools a musical treat last week.
A chamber string group visited the Gilbert Institute, Heron Bay, Paget and Purvis primary schools and a wind group travelled to Somerset, West End, Southampton Glebe and Port Royal primary schools. Kent Hayward, head of music at Warwick, said: "It gives our students a chance to get out in the community and perform. It's just more experience for them. They play everything from jazz and classical to the music from 'The Lion King'.
"Our major thing is to share music. We try to do it every year and it's a great experience for all the kids."
The young performers, aged 13 to 16, were Ffion Caisey, Bianca Clay, Gabi Dunkley, Cornell Fox, Jordan Hassell, Kirsten Nusum, Laura Ruse, Carika Weldon, Stephanie Wilkinson, Harry Medway, Nicole Nelson, Coy Millet, Andrew Minton, Winton Brangman, Joshua Cabrera, Sean Baker, Teniko Eve, Denzel Wright, Kallan Thomas, Harry Dunkley, Aaron Swan, Ben Lusher and Kyoto Burchall.
